Chelsea stars Palmer and Sterling row over who will take penalty vs Arsenal before Fernandez is forced to step in

Before converting the penalty that put Chelsea ahead of Arsenal in their 2-2 draw with Arsenal, COLE PALMER fought to keep the ball from Raheem Sterling.

Mykhailo Mudryk’s header struck William Saliba of the Gunners with his outstretched arm, earning the Blues a penalty kick.

Who was going to take it, though, remained unclear.

Palmer was holding the ball when Sterling attempted to take it away from him, and the two ex-Manchester City players appeared to be squabbling.

Enzo Fernandez eventually arrived and made it obvious that Palmer, who had converted a penalty against Burnley, would be the one to attempt the shot.

The England U21 international sent David Raya the wrong way to give Chelsea the lead, and it turned out to be a wise move.

With this goal, Palmer has now scored for his new team in back-to-back games.

Before the international break, the 21-year-old, who was acquired from Man City for £42.5 million in the summer, scored a penalty and provided an assist in a 4-1 victory over Burnley.

Prior to that, he also contributed to their 1-0 Carabao Cup triumph over Brighton at the end of September by helping Nicolas Jackson score the game-winning goal.

Sterling, meanwhile, gave a fantastic display against Burnley earlier this month, scoring and providing an assist.
